HER EXCELLENCY MRS. LYDIA O. AMARTEY

Ghana’s Ambassador to the State of Israel and
High Commissioner to the Republic of Cyprus

Her Excellency Mrs. Lydia Ofosua Amartey is a career diplomat, who joined the Ghana Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration in 1997.  Until her appointment as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Ghana to the State of Israel, she was the Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy of Ghana in Cairo, Egypt.

In the course of her career, Ambassador Amartey has served in various capacities in the Ghanaian Foreign Ministry.  Theseinclude serving as Director of the Asia and Pacific Bureau and the Accra International Conference Centre at different times.  She also served in the Africa and Regional Integration Bureau, where,as one of the Directors, headed the ECOWAS Unit.  Additionally, she has held diverse positions in Ghana’s Diplomatic Missions in Copenhagen, Havana and Moscow.

Ambassador Amartey holds Master of Arts in International Affairs from the Legon Centre for International Affairs and Diplomacy (LECIAD), University of Ghana, and Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Economics and Diploma in Education from the University of Cape Coast.

Ambassador Amartey has participated in several professional courses with special interests in diplomacy and African regional trade.

In her leisure time, Ambassador Amartey enjoys reading, sewing, beading, listening and dancing to good music. 

Ambassador Amartey is married and blessed with a child.
